Trubisky Stages HUGE comeback win, and the Lions are still the Lions
The Bears thrashed the Lions in the 4th quarter for 21 points and came away with a remarkable comeback victory in Week 1. Mitchell Trubisky and the WRs were shaky for 3 quarters, and it looked as if the Defense was nearly out of gas when things just shifted. Throughout the game, the offensive line and RBs appeared to be much improved from last season, but the offense was caving on third down conversions and puttering out in the redzone. Lions QB, Matthew Stafford, was driving and scoring points leading to a 17 point deficit for the Bears in the 4th quarter. Then, Trubisky happened. 8-10, 89 yards, 3 TDs, and a 20 yard scramble with a passer rating of 143.3 in the 4th. He said post game that the Lions did a good job of disguising coverages, but he knew that down the stretch, the Lions would stick within their comfort zone of man coverage – a defense that Mitch has historically played well against. Well, he did it again, this time with help from emerging WR Anthony Miller who caught the game winning TD along with 76 yards receiving on the afternoon. The Lions just keep Lioning, and Matt Patricia has now orchestrated eleven 4th quarter collapses in 33 games. Simply amazing.
