2nd Round Pick Jaylon Johnson Film Study
Jaylon Johnson is a big DB (6’0, 193 lbs) that is a physical, man press corner. He has the capability of shutting down wide receivers out on the island by physically imposing his will at the line of scrimmage. He has impressive vertical capabilities which will help neutralize jump balls in the red zone and on deep passes. He has fairly good instincts in zone coverage, but he can sometimes lose track of receivers when watching the QB. I can see some lunging or reaching in some of his reactions, but overall, he seems smart and instinctive. Considering the Bears released Prince Amukamara and have several lower tier candidates for the starting CB spot opposite Kyle Fuller, I like the pick. The biggest worry is that he has had 3 shoulder surgeries since his senior year of high school, so the real question is if his body can hold up to the rigors of multiple NFL seasons.
