Breaking Down New Bears TE Jimmy Graham
Time to face the music. $8 million dollars is too much money to pay for the version of Jimmy Graham that we are getting. According to Krueger, Jason Witten signed for half that amount and was better than Graham last season. Although Graham claims, “I’m still fast,” the tape just doesn’t reveal that. I also really don’t like that he shies away from contact in the tape by consistently running out of bounds. Tight ends need to punish defenders, wear them down, run them over. Football is a game of attrition, and I don’t want to hear, “…but Jimmy’s knees…blah blah blah.” Suck it up, man. This is football. In the video, Krueger points out that the Bears had money to spend, and perhaps they value veteran leadership in the locker room. Whatever. The tight end situation in Chicago has been awful since Greg Olsen left for Carolina, and frankly, I’m tired of the circus at the position. Pace has not been able to figure it out as proven by drafting Adam Shaheen in 2017 and giving Trey Burton a 4 year, $32 million deal (how many games did he play before release?). This signing is only exasperating the situation, and Pace needs to hit a home run in the 2020 draft by snagging a future star at the position. Otherwise, it will lead to the Bears failing to reach the playoffs, and heads will roll. Check out this video which provides further in-depth analysis, and make sure to sign in to comment below!
